Hour Categories - Supervised Hours Tracker Docs Docs

The category taxonomy every logged hour maps to, and the constraint each category feeds.

The tracker records hours at a finer grain than the BBS’s own weekly log form (Form 37A-525), because the regulations impose caps the form can’t express on its own. The form you export is always a projection of this internal model — never the other way around.

CategoryFeeds constraint

Direct clinical counseling — couples, families, childrenPart of the 500-hour CFC floor (subset of the 1,750)
Direct supervisor contact — individual or triadicNon-clinical; capped at 6 credited hours/week
Direct supervisor contact — groupNon-clinical; capped at 6 credited hours/week (combined with above)

Personal psychotherapy receivedTracked separately; historically subject to its own cap

Every category also carries a telehealth tag, even where nothing currently constrains it — a prior rule capped telehealth counseling at 375 hours before it was repealed, and history says a constraint like that can return.

Why the extra granularity matters

The Board has changed its own form before: the older nine-category forms (37A-524/524a) were replaced by today’s five-line form without changing what actually counts toward licensure. If the internal model only captured what the current form asks for, a future form change could leave you unable to reconstruct hours the Board now wants broken out differently. Recording at the regulation’s grain, not the form’s, is what makes re-export possible after a form change.

Ceilings to watch

  • 1,250 hours — non-clinical ceiling.
  • 1,300 hours — total pre-degree (trainee) hours that may count, of which at most 750 may be counseling and supervision.
  • 1,200 hours — hours supervised by a Licensed Educational Psychologist.

Your dashboard’s Compliance page shows how close you are to each ceiling, not just the 3,000-hour total.
